Job Seeker Supports

-A A +A

This past Dec, for the  Jan-June time period, we funded 4 sites to run a networking/job skills training sessions every other week. As well as host a job fair for older adults in May/June (the awards were for $1500 for a half year but will be higher next fiscal year).

The four sites are Halifax, Hopkinton, Barnstable and West Springfield.  I encourage you to attend one of their sessions – you’d be most welcome -- and see how we’ve designed it.  I am attaching a flyer with the dates and locations for the three eastern MA sites.

Also, below, is a copy of the operational kit created by MCOA’s project leader, a wise and dynamic employment specialist named Susan Drevitch Kelly.  I encourage you to call Susan or me if you have any questions and /or want to start one in your area.

This is a page for local Councils on Aging to share Networking/Career Coaching program event organizational tools and program manuals, PR, worksheets for workgroups, etc.  Please send any documents you'd like to include to Lynn.

Regional Job Seeker Networking and Career Coaching programs are perfect for anyone who is unemployed and actively looking for work, underemployed and looking for a new career direction, or recently retired, not ready to stop working and looking for an "Encore Career."

The program is open to any individual who resides in MA and is 50 years or older and will provide participants with a regularly scheduled and professional forum for networking with their peers in a safe and professional environment conducive to developing new relations and developing skills to helps them in their career transition.

Each meeting is being moderated by a professional career coach and includes a presentation by other HR and career coaching professionals on a topic relevant to career transition and job search.  In addition, there will be ample opportunity for honing networking skills with peers.  Participating in this networking program on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies they will need for a successful job search.

To start a regional job seeker support group of your own, please contact Mary Kay Browne for more details.
